Real-time data is everywhere.
Learn how Live Earth integrates millions of data sources on a common operational picture to empower stadium operators to enhance the fan experience.
Data is a powerful thing and being able to have access to it can actually help stadiums run smoother and more seamlessly.
Can data really improve the fan experience at stadiums? - LISTEN NOW!
With help from technology like Live Earth, an open source visualization platform that integrates data or information feeds in one dashboard. Talking with us today about how it works is Craig Johnston, VP of Business Development.
Because Live Earth has been able to be such a key in stadium operations, they recently became certified by the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security. Craig said, “The experts look at technology to see how it enhances safety, security, and the fan experience. They did a thorough analysis of our platform and gave us that amazing designation. In fact, they told us they had never seen anything like it.”
So how does Life Earth actually enhance safety, security, and the fan experience? We dive into this by looking at some scenarios.
Fans converge on stadiums at about the same time but come from many different areas. If you’re talking about Citi Field in NY, there are people coming from the train, buses, and private vehicles. Because Live Earth can integrate with different systems and data sources, they can provide an overall map including the train arriving, buses, and traffic. Craig stated, “We built a geo fence so know when transportation is arriving via GPS. When it arrives, we send a notification to the system. This opens up perimeter cameras and notifies event staff and security that people are ready to arrive. They can then adjust to meet the incoming fans.”
When fans get into the stadium, the tracking and management continues. As people are scanned in, they are being counted and this is being fed into the platform. Craig shared, “We know the section you’re going to. We’re tracking cell phone signals, synchronizing with security cameras, and creating a heat map. Operational staff can use that to adjust security and staffing and have the right people in the team store and concessions.”
And, Live Earth is Partnered with Technology Leaders like VMware Pulse IoT Center, that allows us to also work with the IT groups in stadiums to be sure the infrastructure is secure. "It's the overall view of bringing partners together to enhance safety for everyone," commented Craig.
